Terrarium

(Immersive VR Experience)

"Terrarium" is an innovative VR installation that transports viewers into the heart of Puglia's olive groves, exploring the devastating impact of the 2023 Xylella outbreak. This immersive experience blends cutting-edge technology with multi-sensory elements to create a powerful narrative about environmental conservation and cultural heritage.

The "Terrarium" project emerged in response to the devastating Xylella fastidiosa outbreak that struck Puglia's olive groves in 2023. This bacterial infection, which had been threatening the region's olive trees for years, reached a critical point, decimating vast swathes of ancient groves and threatening the cultural and economic fabric of the area.

The crisis not only jeopardized a cornerstone of Italian agriculture but also endangered a symbol of Mediterranean heritage. "Terrarium" was conceived as a means to document this ecological tragedy, raise global awareness, and inspire action to protect and restore these vital ecosystems. By leveraging cutting-edge VR technology, the installation aims to create an emotional connection between viewers and the plight of Puglia's olive trees, highlighting the urgent need for environmental conservation and sustainable agricultural practices.

Key Features:

Unreal Engine-powered VR environment

Interactive digital storytelling

Multi-sensory elements (visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile)
